Introduction:

RJ means register jack. It is a connector. It comes in various size and configuration. The most common types of RJ connectors including RJ45 and RJ11.
            RJ45 is a connector used in ethernet cables. It designs with eight positions and eight contact, arrange in a single Row.
           RJ11 is also a connector which is used in telephone cables. IT features a modular design with four positions and four contacts, arrange in a single row.

Difference between RJ45 and RJ11

  • RJ45 connectors are larger than RJ11 connectors.
  • RJ45 support higher data transmission rates compared to RJ11 connectors.
  • RJ45 is Rectangular in shape but RJ11 is square shaped.
  • RJ45 has a width of 11.65mm and RJ11 has a width of 9.65mm.
  • RJ45 connectors are commonly used with cat5e, cat6, cables, while RJ11 are used in telephone cables.
  • RJ45 can support higher network speed while RJ11 and support lower speed.
  • RJ45 connectors are wider and have more pins that RJ11 connectors.
  • RJ 11 connectors are generally less durable as compared to RJ45 connectors. RJ45 are durable due to their sturdier construction.
  • RJ45 is an 8-slot connector, and it is known as 8 positions, 8 contact [8P8C] while RJ11 4slot connector It is known as 6 positions, 4 contact [6P4C].
